Summary
This page is the California-specific notice required by the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA") as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"). For RentGuide's full data practices, see our Privacy Policy.
We don't sell or share your personal information
RentGuide does not sell personal information, and we do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We don't operate an ad network on the public site, we don't drop third-party tracking pixels, and we don't transmit visitor data to data brokers.
Because we don't engage in those activities, there is nothing to "opt out of" on RentGuide — the protection is the default for every visitor.
Your rights as a California resident
California residents have specific rights with respect to their personal information:
- Right to Know. You can ask us to disclose the categories of personal information we have collected about you, the sources of that information, the business or commercial purpose for collecting it, the categories of third parties with whom we shared it, and the specific pieces of personal information we have on you.
- Right to Delete. You can ask us to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to limited statutory exceptions (for example, to complete a transaction, comply with legal obligations, or detect security incidents).
- Right to Correct. You can ask us to correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing. You can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. As noted above, we don't engage in either activity, so this protection is automatic.
- Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information. We do not collect categories of "sensitive personal information" as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
- Right of Non-Discrimination. We will not deny services, charge a different price, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised any of these rights.
Global Privacy Control (GPC)
The Global Privacy Control is a browser-level signal that tells websites a visitor has opted out of the sale or sharing of their personal information. RentGuide honors the GPC signal. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising for any visitor, GPC users receive the same treatment as every other visitor: no sale, no share, no tracking.
Submitting a request
To submit a Right to Know, Right to Delete, or Right to Correct request, email privacy@rentguide.io from the email address you'd like us to use for verification, with the subject line "CCPA Request — [Know / Delete / Correct]". Include enough information for us to identify any data we may have associated with you. Because we do not maintain accounts for public visitors, in practice we typically have only short-lived server logs — see the Privacy Policy for the full list.
We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and respond substantively within 45 days, as required by law. We may extend that period by an additional 45 days for complex requests, with notice to you.
Verifying your identity
To protect your privacy and security, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before fulfilling a request — for example by confirming details only you would know, or by asking you to respond from an email address associated with prior correspondence. The exact verification steps will depend on the nature of the request and the sensitivity of the information involved.
Authorized agents
You can designate an authorized agent to submit a CCPA request on your behalf. The agent must provide signed, written permission from you authorizing them to act on your behalf, and we may require you to directly verify your own identity with us before fulfilling the request.
Non-discrimination
Exercising any CCPA right will not result in any reduction in the quality, availability, or features of the Site, and we will not charge you a different price for doing so.
