Overview
RentGuide is operated by Three Bins eCommerce LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("we", "us", "our"), with a business address at 6421 N. Florida Ave, D-1014, Tampa, FL 33604. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the website at rentguide.io, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your data. We've tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@rentguide.io.
Short version: we don't sell your data, we don't ask you to create an account, and we don't require an email address to browse the comparisons. We do load a small number of industry-standard analytics and advertising audience scripts (Meta Pixel, Google Analytics 4, Google Ads tag) on the public pages so we can understand which content is useful and build retargeting audiences for future advertising campaigns. You can opt out of all of these in one click on our Your Privacy Choices page, or by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser.
Information we collect
Information collected automatically
Like every website on the internet, our web server records basic information about each request:
- IP address of the requesting device
- User-agent string (browser type and version, operating system)
- Date and time of the request
- The page or resource requested and the HTTP response code
- Referring URL, if your browser sends one
These logs are kept for a short period (see Data retention) for security, abuse prevention, and debugging.
Information you provide
Most of our public pages don't include sign-up forms, contact forms, comment sections, newsletters, or account creation. If you email us directly, we receive the contents of that email and process it for the purpose of answering you.
Real estate agent contact form: if you choose to contact an agent through our Find Me A Rental service (under /agents/), we collect the information you enter on the form: your name, email, phone, contact-method preference (phone / SMS / email), whether you're searching for a place to rent or listing a place to rent, and the message you write. We also record the exact consent language shown to you, the timestamp of submission, and your IP address and browser user-agent. That consent record exists so that we and the agent can demonstrate, if asked, that the contact you receive was authorized by you.
Agent contact form data is stored in our database and forwarded by email to the agent you selected. We retain it as long as is reasonably needed to operate the agent matching service and to satisfy our and the agent's legal recordkeeping obligations under the TCPA and CAN-SPAM Act, after which it is deleted or anonymized. You can ask us to delete it sooner by emailing hello@rentguide.io.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect precise geolocation data.
- We do not collect biometric data or government identifiers.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Analytics and advertising trackers
RentGuide loads a small number of well-known third-party tools on the public site so we can understand site usage and build advertising audiences for future campaigns:
- Meta Pixel (operated by Meta Platforms, Inc.) — a JavaScript snippet that records page views and allows us to build Custom Audiences for advertising on Facebook and Instagram. The pixel transmits pageview events, your IP address, browser information, and identifiers from any Facebook cookie set in your browser.
- Google Analytics 4 (operated by Google LLC) —
aggregated reporting on which pages are visited, how long visitors
stay, and which content drives engagement. GA4 sets first-party
cookies on
rentguide.io(_ga,_ga_<id>) that expire after 13 months. - Google Ads tag — builds remarketing audiences for potential future advertising on Google Search, the Google Display Network, YouTube, and Discover.
These trackers are loaded on every public page except in any of the following cases, in which case they are skipped entirely:
- Your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal.
- You opted out via our Your Privacy Choices page (this sets a first-party cookie that our loader checks before any tracker fires).
- The request is for a URL under
/admin/(the private admin area).
You can also manage your ad preferences directly with Meta and Google at any time:
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and secure the website
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and technical errors
- Understand which categories, comparison pages, and offers drive the most engagement, using aggregated reports from Google Analytics and the site's own server logs
- Build advertising audiences (via Meta Pixel and the Google Ads tag) for potential future retargeting campaigns — subject to the opt-out controls described in Analytics and advertising trackers above
- Comply with legal obligations
- Respond to your direct emails
How we share information
We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. However, our use of the Meta Pixel and Google Ads tag for audience-building may be classified as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA/CPRA. See the California residents section below for how to opt out.
Information we collect is handled by:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that operate the physical servers and network the site runs on. These providers process data only to deliver the service (e.g. routing your request to our server, serving TLS certificates).
- Affiliate partners when you click an outbound link. See Affiliate links below.
- Meta Platforms, Inc. when the Meta Pixel loads in your browser. The data shared is the standard pixel payload described under Analytics and advertising trackers above. Meta's privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy.
- Google LLC when Google Analytics 4 or the Google Ads tag loads in your browser. See Google's privacy policy.
- The real estate agent you selected when you use the agent contact form. We forward your submitted information by email to that agent so they can follow up. We don't share agent contact form data with any other agent or third party.
- Our transactional email provider (currently Resend) processes the contents of the agent contact email solely to deliver it to the agent's inbox.
- Law enforcement, regulators, or other authorities, but only where we are required to by valid legal process.
Cookies and similar technologies
RentGuide loads third-party scripts from Meta and Google on the public pages (described under Analytics and advertising trackers above). These scripts set cookies in your browser to support pageview measurement and advertising audiences. Specifically:
- Google Analytics 4 sets first-party cookies under
rentguide.io(_ga,_ga_<id>) that expire after 13 months. - The Meta Pixel may read or set third-party cookies
under
facebook.comif you are signed into Facebook or have recently visited a Facebook page. - The Google Ads tag may set cookies under
doubleclick.netused for audience targeting. - Our own opt-out cookie (
rentguide_optout=1) is set underrentguide.iowhen you opt out via Your Privacy Choices. It lasts one year and is checked before any tracker script loads. - A strictly-necessary session cookie is set by the
private admin area at
/admin. Ordinary visitors never encounter it.
When you click a link to an affiliate partner's site, that partner may set its own cookies and use its own trackers — those activities are governed by their privacy policy, not ours.
You can prevent the tracker cookies from being set in any of three ways: (a) opt out via Your Privacy Choices, (b) enable Global Privacy Control in your browser, or (c) block third-party cookies in your browser's settings.
Affiliate links
RentGuide is an independent, advertising-supported website. Some or all of the offers that appear on our comparison pages are from third-party advertisers from which we receive compensation. For example, we may receive compensation when you click a link, when an application is submitted, or when an account is opened. See our full Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Ask us to delete information we hold about you
- Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell or share, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you can confirm this)
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@rentguide.io from the address you'd like us to respond to. We aim to respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before responding — for example by confirming details only you would know.
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you specific rights:
- Right to know what categories of personal information we collect and how we use them.
- Right to delete personal information we hold.
- Right to correct inaccurate information.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Our use of Meta Pixel and Google Ads tag for audience-building may qualify as "sharing" under the CCPA/CPRA's broad definition. You can opt out at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page, by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, or by blocking third-party cookies.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect categories of sensitive personal information.
- Right of non-discrimination — exercising any of these rights will not change the services we provide to you.
We honor the Global Privacy Control signal. When your browser sends GPC, our pixel-loading code does not fire Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, or the Google Ads tag for your session. You can see the same content and use the same features either way.
See our Your Privacy Choices page for the dedicated California notice and a one-click opt-out button.
EU / UK residents (GDPR)
If you are accessing the site from the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation may apply. Our lawful bases for processing the limited data we handle are:
- Legitimate interests — operating, securing, and improving the website (e.g. retaining short-lived server logs to detect abuse). These interests are balanced against your privacy interests; we collect only what we need.
- Consent — only where required, such as if we add optional features in the future that would require it. We will not roll out cookie-consent-required features without first asking.
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws.
You have the GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and to withdraw consent (where consent is the basis). To exercise these, email hello@rentguide.io. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Data retention
We retain server logs for no longer than is necessary for security, abuse prevention, and debugging — typically 30 days, after which they are deleted or rotated. Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed to answer your questions and meet our record-keeping requirements.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS using TLS certificates issued by Let's Encrypt. Our admin area is behind a password-protected, HTTP-only, same-site cookie session. We take reasonable steps to protect the limited data we hold, but no system is perfectly secure — if you suspect a vulnerability, please email us promptly at hello@rentguide.io with "Security report" in the subject line.
Children's privacy
RentGuide is intended for an adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
International users
Our servers are hosted in the United States. If you access RentGuide from outside the United States, you understand that your request and the limited information described above will be processed in the United States, which may have different data protection rules than your home country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects when the current version took effect. Material changes will be flagged on the home page or via a notice at the top of this page for at least 30 days.
Contact
All questions, requests, and complaints about privacy — and security reports — should be sent to hello@rentguide.io.
